About
Gifts with a story, made in Canada
Northmade is an independent guide to the best Canadian-made gifts and the small makers behind them.
Why we made this
Finding gifts that are actually made in Canada is harder than it should be. Search results are full of imports with a maple leaf on the label. We wanted one place to find real Canadian makers: chocolatiers, roasters, candle makers, potters, soap makers and woodworkers.
How we choose makers
- Made or designed in Canada. We list brands that make or design their products in Canada.
- Checked on the maker's own site. Before a brand is listed, we read its own website. Corporate and wholesale badges only appear when that site says the maker offers them.
- Independent makers first. Most of our makers are small, independent businesses. A few larger, long-running Canadian brands are listed too.
- You buy from the maker. Northmade does not sell anything. Every listing links straight to the maker's own shop.
- Featured is paid and labelled. Featured makers pay for a top spot and always carry a “Featured” badge. Regular listings are free.
- Kept up to date. When a maker closes, we take it off the guide.
Links and privacy
Links to makers carry a small tag (utm_source=northmade) so makers can see which visits came from us. We count visits and clicks with GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that does not use cookies.
Photos
Photos on maker cards come from each maker's own website and link back to it. Category photos are made by Northmade to show the kind of gifts in each category, not a specific maker's products.
Where our makers are
Our makers come from British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Yukon, with more added every week.
